Beginners
The primary goal of this course is to learn how to use the sewing
machine, understand basic machine maintenance, learning how to balance
tension and create strong straight seams.
*Students can retake this class by choice.
Students Will:
• Learn components of the sewing machine• Learn how to load bobbin & thread the sewing machine
• Learn how to balance the thread tension
• Gain control over the sewing speed and pace
• Practice different stitches and seam finishes
• Learn about backstitching and pivoting
• learn how to make straight tapered darts and inseam pockets
• learn how to measure and mark seam allowances
Sewing Instructions:
• 1st week (Learning your machine & complete a small pillow to teach students on how to pivot the fabric, and work with seam allowances)• 2nd week (Prep for making a Tote Bag)
• 3rd week (Continue in making the tote bag, while learning different seam allowances, measurements, lining and interfacing).
• 4th week (Complete project).

Intermediate
Now that you understand the parts, components and how to use the sewing machine, it’s time to take your skills to the next level! The primary goal of this course is to create a more technically difficult project.
*Students can retake this class by choice.
Students Will:
• Students will learn the components on how to construct a bodice part of a garment.
Such as a simple shirt, blouse or a simple jacket. from a commercial pattern etc.
Measuring, Patterning, reading and adjusting.
• Continue to Practice on the zipper foot and top stitching
• Learn about types of fabrics, interfacing, needles, and how to choose the right pattern
for your size.
• Learn how to measure properly adding seam allowances.
Sewing Instructions:
• 1st week (Preparing a bodice (top) garment from a commercial pattern or
self-draft).
• 2nd week (Working on your project, putting all necessary knowledge together).
• 3rd week (Continue to work on your project. Once the project is complete.
We will jump right into starting another project).
• 4th week (Work on completing your project).

Advanced
Now that you understand the parts, components and how to use the
sewing machine, it’s time to take your skills to the next level! The primary goal
of this course is to create a more technically difficult garment, will little
supervision.
*Students can retake this class as many times as possible before moving on to the next level.
Students Will:
• Learn about proper measurement and to adjust pattern
• Implementing how to use a serger in constructing your garments together.
• Create detailed designs with design elements such as pockets, Lining, ruffles and more.
• Practice working with different fabrics. attaching bottom garment to top bodice.
Sewing Instructions:
• 1st week (Will allow the student to choose a project that will implement the knowledge that has been taught from the beginner's courses.• 2nd week (Working on constructing the student's project. Such as a dress, jumpsuit, Vest, Skirt or Pants using a commercial patterning or self-draft.
• 3rd week (Continue to work project). Potential added design components - inseam pockets, Ruffles, Gathers, Collar Etc).
• 4th week (Continue working on project).
